Selection Of Geared Motor

To determine the model of a geared motor, you need to do the following:

  1. Determine the operating speed of the machine, and calculate the reduction ratio of the gear reduction motor based on this speed;
  2. Calculate the torque of the load, select the output of the gear reduction motor according to this torque (refer to the “output torque table” provided by the gear reduction motor manufacturer), and determine the model of the gear reduction motor;
  3. Determine the additional functions of the gear reduction motor, such as power-off brake, power-on brake, frequency conversion, shrinking frame, housing material, etc.

The load torque of a DC geared motor has a direct relationship with the speed and current. The speed decreases linearly with the increase of the load, and the current increases linearly. When selecting specifications, try to work near its maximum efficiency point to obtain ideal operating performance, working life and characteristic stability.

Generally, the use environment of DC geared motors is the same as that of micro DC motors. If there are special needs, such as ambient temperature, overload conditions, current limitation, etc., it must be explained in advance.

The working life of the gearbox generally exceeds the working life of the DC motor, usually up to 1000 to 3000 hours. The total reduction ratio of the gearbox is generally in the range of 1:10 to 1:500. After a special design, it can reach 1:1000 or greater, but the gearbox with a large reduction ratio is not allowed to “reverse”, that is, the output shaft of the gearbox cannot be used as the driving shaft to forcefully reverse.

Due to the limitation of gear strength, when the total transmission is large, the geared motor may not be able to withstand the locked-rotor torque, and the load torque at this time cannot exceed the maximum allowable short-time load torque. The gear box is composed of multi-stage gear pairs. Each stage includes a pair of gear pairs meshing with each other consisting of a chip gear and a pinion gear. The first pinion is mounted on the output shaft of the motor. The bearing used for the output shaft of the gearbox is usually an oil bearing made of copper or iron sintered.

Installation And Maintenance Precautions

  1. Before use, please confirm whether the geared motor is damaged or has oil leakage.
  2. Please confirm the voltage of the geared motor first. A voltage stabilizer can be installed when the voltage is unstable.
  3. Please first confirm whether the specifications of the geared motor purchased are consistent with the design specifications.
  4. Please make sure to fix the base to avoid loosening during operation and transmission.
  5. If you use sprockets, pulleys, couplings and other accessories, they must be installed in accordance with relevant regulations.
  6. Lubricating grease has been put in the body of the geared motor, and no need to replace the lubricating oil for 12,000 hours.
  7. When the geared motor is running, the rated current must not exceed the current value indicated on the motor nameplate.
  8. Please pay attention to the surrounding temperature, humidity, pH and other issues.
  9. If it is not installed, maintained or operated in the correct way, it may cause serious damage to the geared motor.
  10. When repairing or disassembling, make sure that the external power supply is completely folded away from the geared motor.
  11. The safety protection device must be installed to ensure absolute operational safety.
  12. The motor needs to be grounded, please refer to the relevant laws and regulations on power distribution.
  13. Please confirm that all installation parts and transmission accessories are fixed correctly before starting the geared motor.
  14. If the geared motor cooperates with the frequency converter to drive at low speed, an independent auxiliary cooling fan must be installed.
  15. After the single-phase geared motor is powered off, there is still some charge in the capacitor, please discharge first or ground the terminal.
